If you thought that artificial sweeteners were healthier than real sugar, think again! Products like Equal, Splenda and Stevia may not be good substitutes for sugar after all. A recent study looked at the long-term heart health, weight, stroke incidence and blood pressure levels of more than 406,000 people who said they use artificial sweeteners in place of sugar and the results weren’t good. Of course. The researchers found that people who routinely used artificial sweeteners gained weight and had higher risks of obesity, high blood pressure and stroke. My advice? Drink more coffee! Add no sugar of course.
