There’s no doubt that Glen Campbell was a superstar. The guy was everywhere, he literally did everything. He was a member of LA’s famous Wrecking Crew recording studio and played on hundreds of recordings of rock’s biggest stars. He was an original member of the Shindig cast, performing as a “Shindog” with Bobby Sherman. For six months he was a Beach Boy, taking Brian Wilson’s place on bass and vocals, touring and even recording the album “Pet Sounds”. His solo career was amazing, a true “crossover” star with 10 grammy’s, 70 albums, 45 million records sold, and even an Academy Award nomination for song of the year. Add in his many movies (including True Grit with John Wayne) and his many TV shows including the hugely popular Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS, and you start to understand… superstar!
Glen Campbell died yesterday at the age of 81, after a six year battle with alzheimers. Rest in peace… you will be missed!
