In 1966 a kid from Texas and his band, the Triumphs, released a cover single of the Hank Williams song “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”. Amazingly, the record soared to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, sold over a million copies and received a gold record. Not a bad start. The song ranks as B.J.’s fourth best selling single in a long and successful career… so I’ve never understood why it gets so little attention today. Listen for it around 7:30 this morning on Eagle 102.7, on Keith Anderson’s Thursday forgotten oldie.
