In 1966 an Ohio rock band put four different songs into the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, but only one still gets airplay today, the #5 million seller “Time Won’t Let Me”. But another song won me over the first time I heard it, “Respectable” which climbed to #15 on the Hot 100 in September. The song was a cover of an early Isley Brothers song, and the Outsiders had performed the song for many years. In my opinion, if the song would have been named “What Kind of Girl Is This” instead of “Respectable” it would have been a top five song. But the title was confusing, and fans had trouble finding the record on the shelves. Anyway, it’s today’s forgotten oldie.
