Walter Becker, guitarist and bass player for Steely Dan, has died. He was 67. Becker had been in ill health recently, and did not perform with Donald Fagen at the Classic East and Classic West festivals. Becker met Donald Fagen as a student at New York’s Bard College and in 1971 and formed Steely Dan, taking the name from the novel Naked Lunchby William S Burroughs.
And founding Molly Hatchet guitarist Dave Hlubek has died at the age of 66. His cause of death was not revealed. Hlubek formed Molly Hatchet in 1971 and played with band until the late 1980s, then rejoined the group in 2005 and continued performing with them until his death.
