In 1963 the Beach Boys were kings of the beach and the drag strip… songs like “Catch A Wave”, “Little Duece Coupe”, and today’s forgotten oldie “Surfer Girl” were all big hits and all revolved around surfboards and hot rods. What a great time to be young and living in California, that was the underlying theme of most Beach Boys’ records.
“Surfer Girl” the album peaked at #7 that year, and “Surfer Girl” the single also peaked at #7. A true classic, the song is mostly forgotten today.
