School Bus Driver’s Day is today, April 24th, always the fourth Tuesday of April. There are several other bus driver days, but I like this one because it zeroes in on the hard working men and women that get our kids and grandkids to school safely throughout the school year. The typical response for a parent seems to be to wait at the bus stop when the kids get home, and hand the bus driver a small token of appreciation while saying thank you to the driver. Favorite items are candy bars, cookies, donuts, and if you really like the driver a ten dollar gift card is not out of the question. I was surprised to read online that many parents around the country do this and I guess I don’t blame them… they’re transporting a pretty special cargo.
