Today we have a holiday that I am 110% in favor of, National Adopt A Shelter Pet day. We personally have a shelter pet that we rescued five years ago, and without a long story here I can tell you we love her and she’s a big part of the family. We also found out after we took her home that she had been scheduled for euthenization the day after we got her so it truly was a rescue.
There are great places to find the pet you’re looking for, and great people that can help. I highly recommend the services of The Coulee Region Humane Society on Critter Court in Onalaska, as well as the La Crescent Animal Rescue Shelter on South Chestnut in La Crescent. Those folks share a love for animals that is unrivaled in my opinion.
So what are you waiting for? Whether you’re older and would like a great companion, or a young family with a need for a pet for the kids, that perfect animal is probably a visit away… trust me, the toughest part is making up your mind!
