June 6, 1944 is the day the allies stormed the beaches of Normandy France in the largest seaborne invasion in history. As many as 10,000 casualties on each side also meant it was one of the bloodiest battles also. But it signaled the beginning of the end for the Nazis in Europe, and the war in Europe ended the following year.
I’m reminding you a day early because I personally consider it a huge holiday for Americans. During the time of what’s called “The Greatest Generation” history was made almost daily and patriotism in America was usually at a fever pitch. What an amazing chapter in America’s history book.
