New research says dogs imitate their owners. It's long been known that humans imitate other humans, but dogs? (That sounds like humans copy dogs. Then again...)

BEACH BOYS 50th

Al Jardine is looking ahead to 2011 when The Beach Boys turn 50. RollingStone.com reports that Jardine wants all of the members of the legendary band to reunite for the anniversary. The guitarist says, quote, "We're definitely doing at least one show--you heard it first. It's a big deal. I don't know where it will be yet, but it'll probably be free. Golden Gate Park was mentioned, as was the [National] Mall in Washington, D.C."

Salt


Angelina Jolie is back in action with the spy thriller "Salt," opening nationwide on Friday. Jolie portrays Evelyn Salt, an American CIA operative accused of being a double agent for the KGB with plans to assassinate the U.S. President. "Salt" is rated PG-13.


Ramona And Beezus

Joey King and Selena Gomez bring "Ramona And Beezus" to the big screen this week. Opening nationwide on Friday, the film is a contemporary adaptation of the 1950s-era books by Beverly Cleary. Precocious third grader Ramona Quimby -- played by King -- gets into mischief while trying to "help" her family. Gomez plays her patient older sister, Beezus. "Ramona and Beezus" is rated G.

KINDLE SCORES BIG! (AND IT'S NOT BASEBALL, FOOTBALL, OR...)

Amazon.com says sales of e-books have surpassed the sale of hardcover books. The Seattle-based online retailer is claiming the sale of 180 Kindle books for every 100 hardcover books over the past three months.
Other e-book makers have also seen sales increases recently.


Publishers aren't ready to declare hardback and paperback books dead just yet. Several say it's too soon to tell whether e-book sales are coming at the expense of printed books.

A Bosnian man says residents of another planet have placed a bullseye on his house. Radivoje Lajic's home has been hit by meteorites six times since 2007, and he believes aliens are aiming for his house. "I am obviously being targeted by aliens. I don't know what I have done to annoy them but there is no other explanation that makes sense." Lajic says the odds of getting hit by just one meteorite are so small that, quote, "six times has to be deliberate."

ROY ORBISON'S FINAL CONCERT ON CD!

Roy Orbison is living on in a CD that chronicles his very last concert. Eagle Rock Entertainment is distributing "The Last Concert" on August 10th. The CD features Orbison's final show, taped on December 4th, 1988 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Orbison died just two days later.

HAWAII FIVE-O RETURNS TO TV!

Production for CBS' new series "Hawaii Five-O" launched Thursday in Honolulu, following an island blessing for the crime show. Cast members who gathered for the ceremony in the city's Grace Park that included the presentation of maile leis -- which are associated with royalty.
"Hawaii Five-O" first hit the airwaves in 1968. Jack Lord starred as the origianl McGarrett. The new"Hawaii Five-O" will premiere this fall on CBS on Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. Central and Pacific. Here is the official website and trailer.

Another "Grease" for Olivia?

Olivia Newton-John's returns to the big screen in "Score: A Hockey Musical". The film is about a shy Canadian 17-year-old who becomes an overnight sensation thanks to his hockey prowess. Newton-John plays the hockey star's mother. "Score: A Hockey Musical" will make its worldwide premiere on September 9th at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival.

Leonardo DiCaprio and "Juno's" Ellen Page share the screen in "Inception," opening nationwide on Friday. The sci-fi thriller centers on DiCaprio's character Cobb, a thief who extracts valuable information from people's subconscious minds."Inception" is rated PG-13.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Nicolas Cage gets magical on the big screen in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," in theaters nationwide this Friday. Cage is benevolent sorcerer Balthazar Blake. Jay Baruchel plays Dave Stutler, a seemingly average guy who Balthazar recruits and trains to do battle with evil sorcerer Maxim Horvath. "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is rated PG. DOES LARRY APPROVE?

It looks like Piers Morgan is in the mix to replace Larry King on CNN. "The New York Times" reports that Morgan -- known to Americans for judging NBC's "America's Got Talent" -- is close to finalizing an agreement to take over when King leaves. The 45-year-old already hosts a talk show for CNN in the United Kingdom called "Piers Morgan Life Stories." Morgan also has a reality TV win on his resume. He was named Donald Trump's first-ever "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2008.

BASEBALL'S ALL STAR GAME TUESDAY NIGHT

Some big names are ready to entertain as part of Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game. "Glee" star Amber Riley will sing the National Anthem prior to the start of the game. Singer Colbie Caillat has seventh inning stretch duties and will sing "God Bless America." The 81st Major League Baseball All-Star Game pre-game ceremony will also feature actors Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, Salma Hayek, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts, and Charlize Theron. Singer Sheryl Crow is also scheduled to take part.

Tom Jones is getting spiritual ! NME.com reports that after signing with Island Records last October, the man known for tracks like "Sex
Bomb" and "What's New Pussycat?" started recording "Praise and Blame," an album of gospel-tinged songs. Sir Tom has told the UK's "The Western Mail" that his creative team at Island is, quote, "backing [the album] up all the way, I mean they're thrilled with it,


The album -- "Praise & Blame" - has a July 27th release date.

EMMY NOMINEES

The nominees for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced. "


This year's top contenders are the hit Fox musical comedy "Glee," which picked up 19 nods this year and AMC's "Mad Men" with 17 Emmy nominations. Leading all nominees this year, however, is the HBO World War Two mini-series "The Pacific," which nabbed 24 nods.


Awards for television's highest honors will be presented during a star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles on August 29th. NBC will air the ceremony live. Connect with the official Emmy Awards site here.

ROCK TIL YOU DROP

The Who's Roger Daltrey says the British music legends plan to rock until they drop. Billboard.com quotes the veteran singer who says The
Who is talking about hitting the road again for a full tour -- possibly as early as 2011. The 66-year-old Daltrey said, quote, "We definitely don't want to stop. We feel it's the role of the artist to go all the way through life 'til you can't do it anymore."


Daltrey and The Who performed the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year.

There are more Michael Jackson collectibles to be auctioned this fall. Included are the jacket and gloves that Jackson wore on the cover of the late 80s LP "Bad." The famous jacket is custom-made with Swarovski crystals. Fans have a chance to bid on signed photos and lyrics sheets from the pop star.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 of cardiac arrest. He was 50-years-old at the time.
