1972 Clyde McPhatter, former lead singer of The Drifters, died of a heart attack at the age of 39.

1989 Jerry Lee Lewis gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

2010 Jimmy Dean died of natural causes at the age of 81.

2011 Stevie Wonder was inducted into the Hall of Fame at New York’s Apollo Theater, the same venue where he began his professional career as a 12-year-old in 1962.

2012 Ringo Starr’s birthplace was spared from demolition by Liverpool City Council.
