It was September 13, 1965 that the Beatles released Paul McCartney’s “Yesterday” as a single. To me this was a monumental song in the annals of rock and roll history for one critical reason; because so many critics took notice of a rock and roll song and said “hey, that’s pretty good”. And that was an understatement. The song was #1 in both the USA and Britain, and has been covered by other artists over 2200 times, the most for one song in history. And yet today it’s rarely played or heard… can this really be a forgotten oldie?
