I'm A Man

If you’re thinking I’m talking about the song done by Spencer Davis or Chicago, you’re wrong.  This is a completely different song.  This version  of “I’m A Man” was written and recorded by Bo Diddley in the 50’s and was a R&B chart topper in 1955.  In 1964, not long after Eric Clapton joined the Yardbirds, (exactly 54 years ago today), the band scored a huge hit in England with their take of the Bo Diddley song.  Eventually, the Yardbirds version made it to the USA, reaching the top 20 in 1965.  I love the song because it so perfectly gave us a preview of the amazing songs to come from the Yardbirds, plus it’s a great song.
