In 1965, after major successes with “You Really Got Me” and “All Day and All of the Night”, the Kinks started to struggle. Two singles in a row failed to chart in their homeland of Great Britain, prompting the record company to not even release the songs in America. Then Reprise took a chance with the song “Who’ll Be The Next In Line”. Although it did great in England, it wasn’t a monster hit in the USA, but the song respectably made it into the top 40, and paved the way for many more hits to follow. I think of it as the Kinks comeback song, but today it’s another forgotten oldie.
