Respect for the Kinks

In 1965, Britain’s Kinks scored an international hit with “A Well Respected Man”.  Though never released as a single in England, the song was huge in Europe and reached #13 on the Hot 100 in the USA.  A blend of British Music Hall and social consciousness, the song is one of four Kinks songs included on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s list of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll along with “You Really Got Me”, “Waterloo Sunset” and “Lola”. Today it’s mostly another great song that’s slipped into the dark world of forgotten oldies…
