If I asked you who did the song “Fever” you’d probably answer Peggy Lee. But did you know a rock band from Indiana also had a hit with the song and sold a heck of a lot more copies than Peggy did with the song? It’s true… in 1965 the McCoys followed their monster hit “Hang on Sloopy” with their version of “Fever” and it climbed to #7 on the Hot 100. The McCoys had several songs on the Hot 100 over the next couple of years breaking up in 1969. The band was not a one-hit wonder, although today their radio library is limited to “Sloopy” and their other big hit is a forgotten oldie.
