Can you walk and chew gum at the same time? Researchers in Japan discovered that men aged 40 and over burned more calories if they chewed gum while they walked, compared to those who didn’t chew gum. The gum chewers also walked faster and farther. But is the difference in calorie burn that significant? Some subjects burned up to two calories more a minute than the non-chewers. I guess it comes down to how far you walk.
