On July 10, 1965 the song “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It was the first #1 for the Stones in the USA, it was controversial, it was edgy, it was suggestive, and fans loved it. In the years since it’s success it has been listed #1 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Rock Songs of all time, #2 on MTV’s list of the 100 Greatest Rock Songs of all time behind Yesterday, and #2 on Billboards 100 Greatest Rock Songs of all time, behind Dylan’s Like A Rolling Stone (ironic).
To this day, if my band wants to fill the dance floor at a gig, Satisfaction will do it.
So today a salute to what I will always consider the greatest song by the Rolling Stones, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”.
