Listen… have you noticed the quiet? Well, it might be because a lot of the motorcycles are on their way to the Mount Rushmore area in South Dakota for the mother of all motorcycle rallies… Sturgis 2018! Yep, the 78th annual rally starts today and runs through August 12th. Notorious for outrageous biker behavior and topless females, the rally actually offers a lot of variety for any level of participation. There are a bunch of campgrounds, the Sturgis Museum, live music everywhere, vendors and bike shows, custom bikes, and some of the prettiest rides around the area too. A ride down Main Street and LaZelle Street is a must and the number of parked motorcycles is staggering. There are also major acts on several stages as well as many other bands performing all over town plus at the campgrounds. This year’s headliners include Kid Rock, Jackyl, Buck Cherry, Eric Church, Foreigner, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, Trace Adkins, Lita Ford, Steppenwolf, and Queensryche to name a few.
So is a trip to the rally in Sturgis is on your bucket list? If it is, I’m including a first-timers guide to Sturgis here. Have fun and be safe!
