Divorce rates are dropping! And no, it’s not because more people are living in sin. Thank millennials, who are more likely to wait before getting married. The U.S. divorce rate has dropped by 18% from 2008 to 2016, a change led by younger women who are firming up their education and careers before saying “I do.” Even better news is that marriage is becoming more stable, even as attitudes toward divorce are becoming more permissive, and cohabitation has grown less stable. Those factors could mean an even further decline in the American divorce rate.
