What can too much screen time do to our kids? According to a new study, the average American kid spends 3.6 hours of every day staring at a computer, television, tablet, or smartphone. That amount of screen time is associated with inferior cognitive development and academic performance. Those in the know say that kids need 9 to 11 hours of uninterrupted sleep, less than two hours of screen time and at least one hour of physical activity every day. Sadly, nineteen out of 20 children in the U.S. fail to meet those benchmarks. The findings about screen time may reflect interruption of important childhood growth cycles. Get ready for a generation of feeble minded adult children, if it’s not already here.
