Good news: Scientists have figured out a reason why you tend to only remember the fun parts of a night of drinking, but forget the bad parts. Researchers say that it all comes down to a gene which actually encodes whether a memory is pleasant or not. Alcohol apparently affects the gene to make your memories under the influence tend to highlight the good stuff. Bad news: the altered gene also forms “craving memories” which make you want more booze and could lead to addiction. Duh!
