Don’t Bring Me Down

La Crosse, WI, United States / Eagle 102.7

In 1966 The Animals had a solid hit with a Goffin/King written song “Don’t Bring Me Down”.  The song was #12 on the Hot 100, #6 in Great Britain and #3 in Canada.  An interesting story about the song, Eric Burdon the lead singer for the Animals was unaware that Carole King had written the song until he bumped into King at a doctor’s office in LA and they started chatting.  The song features a solid organ riff from Dave Roweberry, a driving bass from Chad Chandler, and a perfect fuzz guitar from Hilton Valentine.  It’s my favorite Animals song, but today it’s just another forgotten oldie.
